Seu Jorge is a multi-artist! Singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, actor, and CEO founder of Black Service, a cultural production space.

With a solid global career, he moves between MPB, R&B, and samba. He began his career when he was invited to audition and join the musical A Saga da Farinha. He participated in more than 20 performances with the TUERJ Theatre Company (from the State University of Rio de Janeiro), as both a singer and actor. In 1997, he took over the vocals of the band Farofa Carioca. In 1999, the singer and composer left the group to pursue a solo career, and in 2001, he released his first solo album – Samba Esporte Fino – mixed and mastered in Los Angeles, internationally known as “Carolina”. In 2004, Seu Jorge released Cru, the second studio album of his solo career. The album was released by the French label Naïve and produced by Gringo da Parada, founder of the Parisian bar Favela Chic.

Seu Jorge is recognized with the Latin Grammy Award for Best Brazilian Popular Music Album, with America Brasil, O Disco in 2008. He also won the Multishow Brazilian Music Award as Best Male Singer in 2009. In 2010, he released Seu Jorge & Almaz through the California Now Again label. That same year, Seu Jorge toured the world with The Life Aquatic, a tribute to David Bowie, a show created by Wes Anderson. In 2012, he received the Latin Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Pop Album with Músicas Para Churrasco Vol. 1. In 2015, he released Músicas Para Churrasco Vol. 2.

In his shows, Seu Jorge provides a diverse musical experience, turning the stage into a vibrant party that captivates the audience and makes them dance to his numerous hits. He has performed in the largest and most renowned venues: Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall, Hollywood Bowl, Philharmonie Hamburg, Paris, Boston, Madison Square Garden, Sydney Opera House, Opéra Garnier Paris, and l’Olympia Paris.

Widely seen as responsible for popularizing samba-pop, and having released critically acclaimed albums both with Farofa Carioca and his solo career, Seu Jorge lists musical influences ranging from samba schools to Stevie Wonder.

As an actor, Seu Jorge appeared in City of God (2002), Tropa de Elite 2 (2010), The Escapist, and E aí, comeu? (2016). Since 2015, he began gaining more fame, starring in Paraíso Perdido (2018), playing Marighella in the biographical film Marighella (2021), directed by Wagner Moura, and in Pixinguinha, a Loving Man, also in 2021. He also participated in series such as Os Normais (2002), Mandrake (2005), Brasil Brasil (2007), and Irmandade (2019), a Netflix series that has been renewed for another season.

Corrida dos Bichos, a film by Fernando Meirelles and Ernesto Solis, is a feature film with a star-studded cast, including Seu Jorge, and the largest budget in the history of Brazilian cinema.

In 2023, the Ministry of Culture recognized Seu Jorge with the title of Ambassador of Brazilian Culture, due to his importance and trajectory in various fields of the arts.

This year, Seu Jorge launched the cultural production space Black Service, in addition to publicly announcing the management of his own career and his direct involvement in advertising communications.
